Who I am

I was always going to be a creative polymath. Born into a family that was half art and design, half music and seasoned with words, I started drawing before I could walk. Interested in ideas, I studied graphic design at Canterbury, graduated with a first and went into professional practice, at design companies including Pentagram and Lewis Moberly and then in my own right. Decades on, the delving and the thinking on paper at the heart of my design work have emerged in my illustration and visual art practice. I bring the breadth, depth and overlap of my knowledge, skills and curiosity to everything I do. Based in East London, I work on local, national and international projects, with clients, with collaborators and solo.

What you get

Communication design with an overview – I look beyond the brief to help make design relevant and make it work in context with your communications as a whole.

Live sketching with a design twist – I bring my designer’s knowledge of formats and materials to make my sketches part of your event.

Illustration that's bespoke – I’m interested in your subject matter (I’m often involved early in a project) and in what’s needed for design and production.

Visual art with an investigative spirit – I love a project with a research rabbit hole and some visual exploring to do.

Speaking with added nerdery – I find the fascinating stories in design and I find out about the audience, to create a talk worth turning up for.

How it works

Some people come to me for one type of work. Some spot the crossover and use more. And some clients and collaborators approach me with completely new uses for my knowledge, skills and ways of looking at things.

Whatever the work, it starts with a conversation. And I’m with you all the way, from planning to follow-up.

If you have a project in mind, or a creative adventure you’d like to discuss, talk to me.
