A sketchbook tour
I’m based at The Trampery’s creative co-working site The Trampery on the Gantry, at Here East, the former broadcast centre for the 2012 Olympics. A chance chat over coffee led to a four-weekend live illustration Instagram takeover, covering all four of its London co-working spaces.
And they’re fascinatingly different.
I covered the Easter community breakfast at The Trampery on the Gantry, at designer-developers Remi CT’s studio. I also looked out to the Velodrome and went out into the Olympic Park to get the view of the joyous design by Hawkins\Brown.
It was afternoon tea at Trampery Republic, at East India Dock. Its friendly community has bold, geometric architecture, a collection of mid-century furniture and a 360-degree view from the 9th floor, looking out to the City in one direction and North Greenwich in the other.
“Is that a Bic you’re drawing with?” someone asked me as I was drawing Trampery Tottenham’s community lunch. They were an animated lot and the Edwardian building is full of details, some of them clues to its original use as the headquarters of the Tottenham District Light, Heat & Power Co.
The Trampery Old Street is all about curation. And not just of its community – it has vintage 1970s wallpaper in its meeting spaces. Friday coffee mornings at The Trampery Old Street are lively affairs. I met my first four-legged Trampery member as I sketched the Friday social.
