Two pictures, two openings, two ideas

Montage of Lydia at the Tower Gallery opening and art pieces at both exhibitions

Three exhibitions opening on the same night – and I had work in two of them. Trainers, then, for a dash across East London...

At the Brady Arts and Community Centre in Whitechapel, I have two pieces in the Women’s Spring Open: on the face of it traditional botanical sketches but done in unconventional ways, one in a technique I use for short pose life drawing, the other stitched into to catch the twinkle from the light.

For Women by Women, at Tower Gallery in Plaistow, we were encouraged to think outside a literal interpretation of the title. I had brought in from the garden bits of moss and gone-over flowers to draw, saw a beret here, lipstick there, played with arrangements of my sketches and the results are two drawn, painted and stitched canvases that bring together nature, portrait and fashion.

Why should clients be interested in this? Well, it’s in the overlap of disciplines, thinking, knowledge and networks that add value to all of my creative work, with clients, with collaborators and on my own projects.

Women by Women is at the Tower Gallery, Memorial Community Church, 395 Barking Rd, London E13 8AL, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 2pm - 6pm until 29 March.

The Women’s Spring Open is at the Brady Arts and Community Centre, 92-196 Hanbury St London E1 Monday - Friday 9am - 7pm, Saturday 10am - 4pm until 28 March.

All four pieces are for sale – contact me for details.
