You would think that a blogpost on sketches in an exhibition has no place here. But here’s a thing: one is on glassine paper made for packaging; the other takes a technique I use in short pose life drawing and applies it to something else.
Both are unpredictable – and that’s the point.
Experimentation, whether on paper or on screen, gives me things I wasn’t expecting. It gives me more to consider. Even if I go back to the first idea I’ve had, I’ll know why. That approach enables me to work well with my similarly curious-minded clients and collaborators.
See these two sketches in the exhibition In Black and White, at the Tower Gallery, Memorial Community Church, 395 Barking Road London E13 8AL, Fri – Sun 3pm-7pm until 4 May. Giclée prints available to order.
