On National Illustration Day 2025

Montage of illustrations from four projects: perfume bottle, cloth, fashion illustration and wildlife habitat

Well, it’s been quite a year for variety…

In a thrilling project for independent perfumer Sarah McCartney of 4160 Tuesdays, I got to illustrate Vianne’s Confession, Sarah’s collaboration with author Joanne Harris for the back-story to Chocolat.

It’s been wildlife central for London heritage, art and ecology site Cody Dock, illustrating species, habitats, a map and a game.

For ages, I’ve been wanting to draw a runway fashion show – and at last, I got an access-all-areas opportunity at the Good Fashion Show by Give Your Best at the Trampery on the Gantry.

And for the fashion episode of Studio Snack, a podcast with Narcis Sauleda, I’ve turned illustrations from past episodes into textile prints (a mozzarella plant and a scone with ambition, since you ask).

On all four projects, I’ve brought my design practice to my illustration work: hand lettering and box surface design for Vianne’s Confession, design advisory work for Cody Dock, drawing on fashion-related materials for the Good Fashion Show and thinking through pattern for the textiles.

Here’s to the next adventures.
