Thinking it through
This month’s Studio Snack podcast episode is about tea breaks – their history, changes in business thinking and how we might cure our creative industry habit of skipping them.
In illustrating a tea break alarm for this month’s creative experiment, I was reminded of something different: the value in trying stuff out.
I’d been listening to a theory on how to divert from late night screen habits by switching to an old-fashioned alarm clock. That, I thought, might be just the thing. With tea spoons for hands. Visually: marvellous! Practically? The clock face would have to be the size of my actual face. (Though good thing out of not-entirely-thought-through thing, I do need a big reminder…)
So if you’re new to design, that’s something to bear in mind. Try stuff out. It might work; it might go horribly wrong. Experiment and modification are part of the process. And if it goes entertainingly wrong, that’s even better. I’m not being flippant here – in the creative industry, fun is serious business…
