A recce. On foot. With a sketchbook.
Surely not, when the brief is to produce a simple sketch map and we have search engines?
Well, it’s not as overdone as it seems…
There’s good practice – I can’t use an image for illustration reference that may be in copyright.
And there’s the added value that a recce brings. Though I take photos as well, drawing is my way of looking. Being still in a place for a few moments, I notice things. And that enabled me to bring thoughts, questions and extra resources to a mapping workshop with Iceni Projects, developers St William and Harris Science Academy at the Bromley-by-Bow gasworks site.
This follows work earlier this year leading sketch and walk tours at these wonderful listed gasholders.
