Festive pencil shavings

Seasonal pencil shavings

It’s not the most conventional of festive repeat patterns. But bear with me…

I love a pencil shaving. I make a lot of them, on live sketching assignments and on my own work.

In a circle, they can be baubles or snowflakes.

They're general enough to be relevant to the cards' recipients – people of all faiths and none, celebrating the season or just having a quiet few days.

The bookmark format is light on materials and gives the cards an onward use.

Why three colourways? Fun, for cards going to places where I know several people. As I’ve written the cards, it’s been interesting to think about who might prefer a warm red, a tree green or a snowy sky.

The pattern is an extension of the illustrations I made for my latest collection of garments and tote bags. You can read the story of the illustrations here and find the collection here.
