In a guest lecture for postgraduate students at Loughborough University London’s Creative Research and Innovation Centre, I’ve talked about how working in East London creative clusters has shaped my practice.
Sketch-mapping my story, I’ve seen just how much geography has played a part in the work I’ve done, the broadening of my creative practice and my formal and informal networks sharing information, opportunities, knowledge and ideas. I’ve noticed the pace of change and places of change, even over one year.
And setting out a show and tell has revealed the extent of the crossover in my work between design, creative direction and sketching.
Making the slideshow with the spirit of enquiry that informs the creative work has made me think and enabled me to bring those discoveries to my talk – speaking to students, having myself learned something new.
